Viera's newer construction in Suntree, Baytree, and West Viera features open floor plans with large windows, wide sliders, and in many cases floor-to-ceiling glass. Standard blinds and shades sized to common window dimensions leave gaps at the edges and don't fill the opening correctly. Custom plantation shutters fabricated to the exact dimensions of each window eliminate that problem entirely. The frame is built to the opening, the panels fill it precisely, and the result looks architectural rather than decorative.

4.5" louvers for Viera's larger windows

The most common specification for Viera's larger windows is a 4.5" louver. The wider slat is better proportioned for tall and wide openings — it requires fewer slats to fill the height, which means less visual clutter and a cleaner look when the louvers are angled open. For standard-sized windows in the same home, 3.5" is the more common choice. We assess each window during the consultation and recommend louver size based on the actual dimensions.

Composite for Brevard's humidity — even away from the coast

Viera is further inland than Melbourne Beach or Satellite Beach, but Brevard County's ambient humidity still affects window treatments over time. Composite shutters are engineered to resist the moisture cycling that causes real wood to warp — the daily shift between outdoor humidity and indoor AC. For most Viera homes, composite is the right call. For premium interior rooms where the aesthetic of real wood matters and humidity is controlled, wood is a legitimate option.
