Windows are responsible for up to 25% of a home’s heating and cooling loss. In Central Florida — where your AC runs ten months a year — that number shows up on your electric bill every month. Cellular shades, also called honeycomb shades, are the most energy-efficient window covering available. The honeycomb structure traps air between the window and your room, reducing heat transfer without blocking your light. Bespoke Blinds Design Studio supplies and installs cellular shades custom-measured to your exact window dimensions throughout Central Florida — including skylights, sliding glass doors, and specialty shapes. We bring samples to your home, measure every window on-site, and give you a written quote before we leave. No subcontractors. Same-day installation available. Call (321) 917-2173.

Most window treatments control light. Cellular shades control heat. The honeycomb cell structure — single or double layer — traps air directly against the glass, creating a thermal barrier that reduces how much heat enters through the window in summer and how much cool air escapes at night. Research from Oak Ridge National Laboratory found homes with cellular shades reduced total cooling energy use by up to 15%. In Central Florida, where cooling runs year-round, that adds up. Double cell shades provide more insulation than single cell — we’ll show you both during your consultation and recommend which configuration makes sense for each window’s sun exposure.
Single cell vs. double cell — which one is right for your windows
Single cell shades have one layer of honeycomb pockets. They insulate well, cost less, and work for most windows in Central Florida — particularly rooms that don’t take direct sun all day. Double cell shades have two stacked layers of cells, providing roughly double the insulation value. The right choice for west- and south-facing windows where afternoon heat gain is the primary problem. We don’t charge the same price for every window — we recommend the right cell type for each window’s specific exposure during your in-home consultation.
Every configuration Bespoke Blinds installs:
Standard cellular shades (cordless) The simplest and most popular configuration. Raise and lower by the bottom rail — no cords, no pull chains. Safe for homes with children and pets. Available in single and double cell.
Top-down/bottom-up Lowers from the top and raises from the bottom independently. The most practical configuration for bedrooms and bathrooms — you get natural light from the upper portion of the window while the lower half stays covered for privacy. Not available in every fabric, so we’ll confirm options during your consultation.
Day & night (dual fabric) Two separate fabric panels in a single headrail — a room-darkening panel and a light-filtering panel, independently operable. Full blackout when you need it, soft daylight when you don’t. Right for bedrooms where you want options throughout the day without two separate window treatments.
Bottom-up Raises from the bottom only. Less common but useful in specific configurations — street-level windows where privacy at the lower portion matters more than the upper view.
Motorized cellular shades Any of the above configurations in a motorized version — remote, app, Alexa, or Google Home. The practical choice for high windows, skylights, and any space where reaching the shade manually is inconvenient. We configure all smart home connections on-site the day of installation.
Slider cellular shades (vertical operation) Designed specifically for sliding glass doors and wide openings. Instead of raising and lowering, these shades slide left and right on a track — same honeycomb energy efficiency in a format that works with how a sliding door actually operates. Available in single and double cell.
Skylight cellular shades Custom-fabricated to your exact skylight dimensions — octagon, hexagon, rectangular, or any shape. Skylights are one of the largest sources of heat gain in a Florida home in summer and heat loss at night. Cellular shades for skylights are the most effective way to control both without blocking the opening entirely. We measure and fabricate to your specific skylight on-site.
Specialty shapes Octagon and hexagon windows. Custom-fabricated to the exact frame dimensions.

Same product, different names.Cellular shades and honeycomb shades refer to the same window treatment — a fabric shade with a pleated honeycomb cell structure that traps air for insulation. You’ll also see them called cell shades or honeycomb blinds. Bespoke Blinds installs both single cell and double cell options throughout Orlando and Central Florida.
Single cell shades have one layer of honeycomb pockets that trap air against the glass. Double cell shades have two stacked layers, providing roughly double the insulation value. For most Central Florida windows, single cell is sufficient. For west- and south-facing windows with direct afternoon sun, double cell reduces heat gain more effectively. We recommend the right option per window during your free in-home consultation.
Yes. We custom-fabricate cellular shades to your exact skylight dimensions — rectangular, octagon, hexagon, or any shape. Skylights are one of the largest sources of summer heat gain and winter heat loss in a Florida home. Custom-fitted cellular shades on skylights are the most effective way to control both. We measure the skylight on-site at your consultation.
Yes. We install slider cellular shades specifically designed for sliding doors — instead of raising and lowering, these shades operate on a left-right track that works with how a sliding door opens. Available in single and double cell. We measure the opening on-site and fabricate to the exact width and height.
A top-down/bottom-up shade has two independently operated rails — the top rail lowers from the top and the bottom rail raises from the bottom. This lets you cover the lower portion of a window for privacy while leaving the upper portion open for light, or any combination in between. The most practical configuration for bedrooms and bathrooms where you want natural light without exposing the full window.
For routine maintenance, use a soft-brush vacuum attachment along the pleated cells. For spot cleaning, blot with a clean damp cloth — do not rub, do not saturate. Allow to air dry fully before operating the shade. In Central Florida’s humidity, never close or stack a damp shade — moisture trapped in the cells can cause mildew. For a thorough clean, professional ultrasonic cleaning removes dust from inside the cells without removing the shade from the headrail.
Custom-measured and professionally installed cellular shades in Orlando start at $152 for a small window and $257 for a standard 36" x 54" window. Double cell shades run approximately 15–20% more than single cell. Motorized cellular shades start from $350 per window. Slider and skylight configurations are priced per opening at the free in-home consultation. We provide a written itemized quote for every window before any commitment.
